Natural Wine in Phoenix

Phoenix has a growing appetite for wines that taste like where they’re from — less makeup, more vineyard. If you’ve been searching for natural wine in Phoenix, you’re in the right place.

Cactus Cru is an Arizona natural winery making small-batch, low-intervention wines from organic and practicing-organic fruit grown in the high desert. We don’t run a tasting room (yet). You find us the way Phoenix actually drinks: by the glass, on local shelves, and online when you want bottles at home.

What we mean by natural wine

For us, “natural” isn’t a buzzword checklist — it’s a way of working. We partner with Arizona growers for healthy fruit, ferment with native yeasts, and keep additions minimal. Our wines are typically unfined and unfiltered, with only small amounts of sulfur when needed to keep things stable on the road from tank to glass.

The result is wine that feels alive: chillable reds, skin-contact bottles, bright sparkling experiments, and lots that change a little every vintage because the desert does too.

Why Arizona (and why it shows up in Phoenix)

Arizona’s high-desert vineyards — places like Willcox, the Chiricahua foothills, Verde Valley, and beyond — bring elevation, big day/night temperature swings, and fruit that holds acidity and aroma. We source across the state and vinify in small lots with trusted partners, then get the wine into Phoenix the way our community actually buys it: restaurants, shops, clubs, and direct.

If you care about locally minded wine in Phoenix, this is the point — not shipping in a European category name and calling it a day, but building an Arizona natural wine culture from the ground up.

Who makes Cactus Cru

Cactus Cru was founded by Timo Geis, French-born, Sedona-raised, Phoenix-based, after years in wine (including importing natural wine) and training at the Southwest Wine Center. The project is hands-on and community-shaped: harvest help from friends in restaurants and shops, playful labels, and wines named for people and stories that matter.
